In October 2024, I was privileged to take the stage with 11 other innovative, energized professionals talking about disruptive topics for the world of workplaces. DisruptHR is an information exchange designed to energize, inform and empower people in the HR field all around the globe.
My talk, “No…You’re the Problem” is about challenging the adversarial framework at the root of the labour relations system in Canada. I have worked with many people over the past 5 years who want to find ways to move forward but struggle within legal frameworks that amplify feelings of being under threat and mistrust for others. I think it’s time to reimagine the adversarial framework in labour relations with collaborative, restorative and other innovative processes.
DisruptHR has a specific structure: 5 minutes, 20 slides, 15 seconds per slide … and no notes. I am no stranger to public speaking and comfortable on the stage, but this was a first foray for me in this type of format and I won’t lie – it’s nerve wracking!
